The church of Saints Karpos and Papylos does not survive, but can be reconstructed from the substructure that still exists today. The church was built in the late 4th or early 5th century, when it still lay outside the land walls. Designed as a rotunda with a inner circle of columns supporting a dome, it imitated the Church of the Holy Grave of Jerusalem in a simplified form.
