The original byzantine name of this former church has not been established yet with certainty. The Atik Mustafa Paşa Camii is a cross-domed construction probably of the ninth century. It had originally outer naves and galleries inside. The reconstruction is not always clear since the building lay waste for some decades after the ottoman conquest and had to be heavily restored when it was made a mosque.
